2020 Salary Increase Approved for Becker County's Elected Officials

DETROIT LAKES, MN--About a two-point-four-percent raise in 2020 salaries for most of the elected officials in Becker County and the Sheriff will see just over a seven-percent (7.4%) adjustment (raise) in 2020, as approved by commissioners on a split vote Tuesday.
Typically, prior to approval of the next year's county budget, salaries for the elected positions including commissioners, auditor/treasurer, recorder, sheriff and county attorney are set by resolution.
The salaries for 2020:
Mary Hendrickson, County Auditor Treasurer: $89,630
Patty Swenson, County Recorder: $74, 515
Todd Glander, County Sheriff: $108, 546
Brian McDonald, County Attorney: $115,332
Commissioners (Larry Knutson, Barry Nelson, Don Skarie, Ben Grimsley, John Okeson): $25,217
Board Chair for 2020--additional $1,230
The maximum tax levy increase set by Becker County Commissioners in September was 2.99%. A budget hearing is December 12th at 6:01 pm in the Commissioner Room at the Becker County Courthouse. The final budget and levy must be approved before the end of the year. The commissioners second regular meeting of the month is December 17th.
