(KBRF) - Otter Tail County Public Health and the CDC are recommending that people get vaccinated for the Flu as soon as possible.
Public Health Nurse Jessica Metzger says that most of the concern stems from last year when the ones who were hardest hit, were also the ones who weren’t protected. Metzger says, "There were several deaths last year, 80% of the people who died from Influenza last year were not vaccinated."
The CDC says there are many different flu viruses and they are constantly changing.
The composition of U.S. flu vaccines is reviewed annually and updated as needed to match circulating flu viruses. The flu vaccines available will protect against the three or four viruses depending on vaccine that research suggests will be most common.
