Becker County: High Speed Chase Ends On Highway 10, One Person Shot

DETROIT LAKES, MN--One person was shot by officers after a high speed chase ended east of Audubon Thursday. According to the Becker County Sheriff's Office, deputies became involved with a pursuit in western Becker County just before 7:30pm. The pursuit ended just east of Audubon on U.S. Highway 10 after tire deflation devices were deployed. Sheriff Todd Glander says the driver of the suspect vehicle reportedly exited the vehicle with a long gun and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect was transported to a Fargo area hospital with apparent gunshot wounds. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was contacted to assist with the investigation of the officer involved shooting. No officers were injured during the incident. The identities of the suspect or the deputies involved have not been released. The Sheriff says they will be released in a formal statement by the BCA. The incident is still under investigation. The Sheriff's office was assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol, and the police departments of Detroit Lakes and Lake Park. MN DOT closed the highway segment between Audubon and Detroit Lakes following the accident, overnight and reopened it early Friday morning.
