DETROIT LAKES, MN--Becker County is looking for input on broadband service and are asking residents to take part in a survey. Becker County Economic Development Coordinator Guy Fischer says a county broadband initiative in conjunction with the the Blandin Foundation is looking for input from businesses, business owners, individuals who use the internet as well as those who don't have internet service but would like to have better broadband service to fill out the survey. Fischer says the survey will be up on the Becker County website Home page for about four to five weeks. Blandin Foundation is helping to aggregate the information and map the survey results to find opportunity areas for increasing broadband access throughout the county. Fischer says the County will have conversations with the local internet vendors in the near future relative to what the County finds out through the survey. Fischer says the hope is to facilitate partnerships that lead to state broadband grants that would make broadband deployments affordable in our rural areas.
