MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO) - A man suspected of stealing large amounts of merchandise during a recent armed robbery in Bemidji has been arrested in Moorhead. Court documents say a masked gunman walked into a Bemidji AT&T store and stole $31,000 worth of cell phones and tablets on May 12.
The lone employee was ordered into the backroom, where he was told to place all iPhones, tablets and go phones into a green bag. The employee was ordered to hand over his wallet and money from the cash register.
A search warrant affidavit in Clay County District Court says two days after the robbery, two of the stolen phones were activated on the AT&T network. Investigators traced signals from the stolen phones to a transitional housing unit in Moorhead.
The affidavit says officers summoned Ricky Lidel to the lobby of the building, where he was taken into custody by Moorhead police. Numerous cell phones and other suspected stolen items were seized from Lidel's apartment.
Lidel has been charged with aggravated first degree robbery in Beltrami County.
