PARK RAPIDS, MN--A big drug bust in Hubbard County this week.

The Hubbard County Sheriff's Office says over the course of the past several months, Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office and Park Rapids Police Department investigators assigned to the Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force and the Headwaters Safe Trails FBI Task Force, conducted several felony level drug investigations throughout the Hubbard County area. Authorities say the focus of the investigations included people that sell and/or distribute methamphetamine and prescription drugs in Hubbard County. Hubbard County Sheriff Cory Aukes said throughout the course of the investigation, task force agents were able to identify numerous drug traffickers in the area.

The sheriff pointed to proactive efforts by drug task force agents that lead to the seizure of large amounts of methamphetamine, prescription opiates, butane hash oil, high grade marijuana, firearms, and proceeds from drug sales. He added that these crimes are all considered felony drug offenses in the State of Minnesota.

On March 28, 2018, the drug investigations reached their conclusion. A collaborative effort with the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Office, Park Rapids Police Department, Paul Bunyan Drug Task Force, Headwaters Safe Trails FBI Task Force, MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), US Border Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and West Central Drug Task Force led to the arrest of numerous people for various felony level drug offenses involving the sale and possession of illegal drugs. Those arrested ranged in age from 26 to 69 and were from Park Rapids, Akeley, Nevis and Menahga.

The Sheriff says the felony controlled substance crimes and will be prosecuted by the Hubbard County Attorney’s Office. One of the suspects, 49 year old Lance Schoeberl of Park Rapids, had been convicted for selling meth two times previously in 2011 and 2013. His wife, 42 year old Jacqueline, who was also arrested, also had a prior meth possession conviction; Another Park Rapids man, 59 year old Mark Lepper had meth and $1,480 in his shirt pocket when he was arrested. Another person arrested was 63 year old Tim Boxell of Menagha, who sold nine morphine pills to a confidential informant who played a role in most of the drug busts.
