Bigfork, MN (Learfield) - Three people are being treated for burns following a boat explosion and fire on Big Turtle Lake near Bigfork, Minnesota.
The Itasca County Sheriff's Office says they received a 911 call just before noon Tuesday reporting two children were thrown from a boat and two adults jumped into the water following an explosion. The children were wearing life jackets.
Deputies say staff from Arcadia Lodge and bystanders pulled the four occupants safely to shore. Three of them were taken to the hospital for treatment of first-and-second-degree burns to their legs.
The remains of the boat were towed to shore and the fire was extinguished.
Investigators say operator impairment is not a factor and the cause of the explosion is under investigation.
