(KNSI) - Divers pulled a man's body from the Mississippi River in St. Cloud on Tuesday night.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says the body matches the description of the person witnesses say they saw enter the river around 4:30 p.m. Monday in the 700 block of 5th Avenue North.
The witnesses say the man was swimming across the river when he went under about halfway across.
The individual's name is being withheld until family has been notified.
The body is being sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy and official identification.
The body was located with the help of Tom Crossmon, of Crossmon Consulting, who used side scan sonar to locate areas of interest in the river.
Crossmon also located Jesse Dady's body on March 31, 2017, in the river in the area of the convention center.
The St. Cloud State student had fallen into the river off of the railroad bridge behind Empire Apartments.
The sheriff's office thanks all of its partner agencies in the search, with a special thanks to Crossmon for "his willingness to assist law enforcement agencies and families in these recovery efforts."
