PELICAN RAPIDS (KDLM) - Burger King will occupy the former McDonald's location in Pelican Rapids.

McDonald's closed in Pelican Rapids after nearly 10 years in business in mid-March after the restaurant declined to renew their lease. Burger will occupy that same space and hopes to open by late July or early August.

The restaurant will be owned by Michael Knoop, who also owns the Burger King in Detroit Lakes.

The Fargo Forum reports that Knoop has signed a 10-year lease, contingent after three years on sales.
