(Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec) -- Canada plans to ban harmful single use plastics as soon as 2021. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says right now Canadians are on track to throw away an estimated eleven-billion dollars worth of plastic materials a year by 2030. He says that by improving the way the country manages plastic waste, they can reduce one-point eight million tons of carbon pollution, generate billions of dollars in revenue and create around 42-thousand jobs. A statement from Trudeau's office says with the longest coastline in the world and one-quarter of the world's freshwater, Canada has a unique responsibility to lead in reducing plastic pollution.
