Candidates Begin Filing Today for 2018 Elections

DETROIT LAKES, MN--Today, May 22nd, is the opening day to file for any county, state or federal seat up for election in November. The filing window is open through June 5th
In Becker County you would file at the Auditor-Treasurer's office in the Becker County Courthouse which opens at 8:00 am Monday-Friday, but will be closed on Monday, May 28th for Memorial Day.
Becker County seats on the ballot this November include: County Commissioner District 1, currently held by Larry Knutson; District 2 County Commissioner currently held by Ben Grimsley; County Attorney currently Brian McDonald; County Auditor Treasurer currently held by Mary Hendrickson; County Recorder currently held by Patty Swenson; Becker County Sheriff currently Todd Glander and two Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors in District 1 and District 4. All seats are 4 year terms.
First Day Filings in Becker County
White Earth Police Officer Al Fowler has thrown his hat into the ring for Becker County Sheriff on this first day of candidate filing for county seats. Both Fowler and Incumbent Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander were among other filers on this first day. Others filing this morning were Becker County Auditor Treasurer Mary Hendrickson, County Recorder Patty Swenson and County Attorney Brian McDonald.
For cities and school districts who do not hold a primary, the candidate filing period is July 31st through August 14th.
