Chickens in Detroit Lakes Closer To Approval, Among Agenda Items at Detroit Lakes City Council Meeting Tonight Click to Enlarge

DETROIT LAKES, MN--Reassessments on the West Avenue Willow Street Project and updating the city's code to include permitting for chickens in residential areas are among items on the agenda at tonight's Detroit Lakes City Council's November meeting.

Detroit Lakes Mayor Matt Brenk says the city and residents should see a decrease in cost assessments thanks to a $2.2 million grant for the West Ave/Willow Street project and the reassessment information will be presented during a public hearing tonight.

The Council will also consider the first reading to amend the City's Code for residents who want to keep chickens. The ordinance would allow for up to four chickens. The amended city code lays out rules for residents who want to keep chickens including, they must get a permit.

Tonight's meeting begins at 5:00pm at City Hall.
