(KBRF) - Congressman Collin Peterson is praising the efforts of 19 agriculture and sportsmens organizations pushing for a floor vote on the Gray Wolf State Management Act.
The groups sent a letter to House Speaker Paul Ryan calling for a vote to remove wolves from the endangered species list before the end of the year.
The Minnesota Democrat claims a court decision made in Washington overturning an Obama-era rule demonstrating wolf recovery in our area has resulted in lost calves for ranchers, decreasing livestock numbers and even pets being killed.
The legislation passed the House Natural Resources Committee on a bi-partisan vote and is awaiting Speaker Ryan's decision to place it on the House floor calendar.
Peterson says he is thankful for the coalition support and hopes to get his bill passed by year's end.
