DETROIT LAKES, MN--A relatively cool September in Detroit Lakes which saw one record-breaking daytime high temperature according to weather statistics for September compiled by Leighton Broadcasting's Charlie Newland. The average high temperature was 67 degrees compared to an average of 71-degrees in 2017 and 69-degrees in 2016. The warmest day was September 17th where we hit 89 degrees and broke a 108 year old record high of 87 set in 1910. The coolest daytime high was 41-degrees on September 29th. The average overnight low was 49 degrees. The coolest overnight low of 30-degrees was recorded on September 29th and the warmest overnight low was 66-degrees on September 14th. There were 12 days rain fell totaling 1.55 inches. The most daily rainfall happened on September 21st when we received 43-hundredths of an inch. The total precipitation for 2018 through September is 17.85 inches.
