DETROIT LAKES (KDLM/TV3) - The Detroit Lakes Library is encouraging residents to write and publish books with a new service being offered by the state of Minnesota, "MN Writes, MN Reads" (MRMW).

MRMW is a free online publishing resource for people interested in easy-to-use resources for creating, sharing and reading eBooks by local independent writers. No library card is required for use.

Mary Haney, Director of Detroit Lakes Public Library describes the new service as a suite of software for people who may want to publish books.

To kick off the service and help give MN authors the recognition they deserve, MRMW is holding their first annual Minnesota Author Project. The contest is seeking fiction and young adult titles to be submitted on MRMW between now and June 30, 2018 for a chance to win $1,000.
