Detroit Lakes Saw a Mixed Bag of Weather in April

DETROIT LAKES, MN--April weather was a mixed bag of conditions locally. The month's statistics compiled by Leighton Broadcasting Detroit Lakes show there were no daytime highs below freezing with the average daytime high temperature of 49 degrees. The coolest daytime high was 32 degrees recorded on April 11th. The warmest daytime high was 74 degrees recorded on April 24th. The average overnight low temp was 31 degrees. The coolest overnight low was 19 degrees recorded on April 1st and April 15th. The warmest overnight low temperature was 52 degrees recorded on April 24th. The official "Ice-out" date for Big Detroit Lake was April 25th. There was snow in April. The most we received was 10-inches on April 12th. There were 12 days of precipitation in April and the total snow amount was 11.5 inches. The total precipitation for April was just over two inches or 2.04" of precipitation. The total snow fall for this winter season October-April is 79.9 inches.
