FRAZEE, MN--For nearly two hours Thursday night, District 2 legislators fielded questions from constituents at a town hall in Frazee. Senator Paul Utke of Park Rapids and District 2b Representative Steve Green of Fosston fielded questions on sustaining public lands and the PILT (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) program; affordable housing, universal pre-K versus early learning scholarships, firearm regulation, and also were asked to support efforts for mental health programs for volunteer firefighters or emergency responders.District 2b Representative Steve Green (right) and District 2 Senator Paul Utke of Park Rapids (left)
One question from the audience to legislators dealt the lack of affordable housing that plagues the region. The question was "what is state and each of the legislators are doing to work toward a solution?"
Both legislators spoke about an idea utilizing pre-manufactured homes.
Utke believes the state should move away from "government-type" housing.
Representative Green shared some insights regarding his work on affordable housing.**
About 30 people attended Thursday night's town hall in Frazee.
