(KBRF) - The DNR is expecting some 500,000 hunters to take part in the firearms deer season this year.
The season opens Saturday and the DNR's Lou Cornicelli says hunters in central, north-central and southeast Minnesota need to bring their harvested deer to be tested for chronic wasting disease.
Cornicelli says hunters should look at the regulations book for all the details and locations on where to take your deer. Cornicelli says the DNR is requiring the testing to determine whether CWD may have spread from captive deer to wild deer in central and north-central Minnesota.
