Fatal House Fire In Menahga Wednesday Night

Menahga, MN - The Menahga Police Department says just before 10:30pm Wednesday, Wadena County Dispatch received a 911 call from a party stating there was a house on fire in Menahga on 600 Block of 2nd St SE. The Menahga Police Department arrived on scene within minutes and found the residence was fully engulfed in flames.
It took Menahga and Sebeka Fire Departments three hours to extinguished the fire. During this time, firefighters located a deceased individual inside the residence. The body was transported to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy and identification confirmation. Identity the individual is being withheld pending notification of family.
The Menahga Police Department was assisted by the Menahga Fire Department, Sebeka Fire Department, Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, Menahga First Responders, Tri-County Ambulance, State Fire Marshal, Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office, Minnesota Power and Minnesota Energy Resources.
The cause of the fire is pending investigation.
