WADENA, MN--The Wadena County Sheriff's Office says one person died following a fiery crash early Sunday morning in Wadena County.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call just after 2:15 am about a vehicle on fire upside down in a ditch in Shell River Township. Law enforcement and fire department personnel arrived on scene to find the vehicle engulfed in flames. As the fire department worked to extinguish the fire, a victim was located inside. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire and the victim was removed.

It appeared the driver was traveling southbound, just south of the Hubbard County line when the driver lost control of the vehicle and entered the west ditch. Once in the ditch, the vehicle hit an approach and rolled several times before coming to a rest on its roof.

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Menahga Fire Department, Menahga First Responders, Menahga Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, State Fire Marshal's Office, K&K Towing and the Wevley Funeral Home.
