(KNSI) - With the snow melting grass and wildfire season has arrived.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says Cass, parts of Hubbard, Clearwater and Mahnomen Counties have a "high" fire danger rating.

The rating means fires start easily, spread at a fast rate, and are difficult to control.

The fire danger will remain high until grass and other vegetation green up. The warning comes on the heels of several wildfires across the state.

Fire officials responded to three fires in the Bemidji area, one of which heavily damaged a garage. Officials say grass fires were reported in Warroad, Park Rapids, Deer River, Little Falls, and the Sandstone-Cambridge areas over the weekend.
