ST. PAUL, MN--Governor Walz has ordered all flags to be flown at half-staff today, July 11th, in honor and remembrance of Red Lake Conservation Officer Shannon Barron, who died Sunday night after a medical emergency. 48-year-old Barron had just finished responding to a call of suspected illegal harvesting near Highway 89 when he requested emergency medical services, saying he wasn't feeling well. Walz says Officer Barron was "an outstanding conservation officer who was admired and respected by his colleagues and served with dignity and pride." Barron served 23 years with the Red Lake Department of Public Safety and leaves behind a wife and two children.
