DETROIT LAKES, MN--A couple big weeks for Detroit Lakes School District's construction projects with the opening of the first project bids. Architect Brian Berg from Zerr Berg Architects updated the School Board at it's work session Monday night. Berg says the first bid opening will be today (April 9th) for the Middle School project followed by another next week for Rossman (April 17th) and the other projects are in the pipeline. Berg said bids on other projects in the region have been coming in under budget, some good news.

The architect also presented renderings of the what the high school will look like following the renovations and addition of the gym and academy wing. He said other renderings are in the works for the other projects. Construction of the projects is expected to begin as soon as the school year ends in May, through the summer this year and a similar schedule next year with the school year beginning before Labor Day in 2019. The bid opening today takes place at Detroit Lakes City Hall and the school board is expected to approve today's bids at their regular meeting April 15th.
