FERGUS FALLS, MN (KFGO) - The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s race now has two candidates. Fergus Falls Public Safety Chief Kile Bergren has joined the race.

Bergren says Sheriff Brian Schlueter’s retirement creates a timely opportunity to bring positive change to the sheriff’s office and create a new vision for the future.

Bergren has 25 years of law enforcement experience. He has worked with the Secret Service, St. Paul Police, the Becker County Sheriff’s Office and has spent 19 years with the Fergus Falls Police Department, the past eight as Chief of Public Safety.

Barry Fitzgibbons, the chief deputy of the sheriff's office, is also hoping to succeed sheriff Schlueter.
