Lake Park-Audubon girls basketball Head Coach Jay Peterson has been placed on paid administrative leave. Peterson was asked to attend a meeting on Monday, January 22 where he met with school administrators and players.
The players, all relatives of employees of the school district had typed lists of complaints against Peterson including players feeling they didn't look as good on the court as other players because they weren't able to run a specific defense.
The team is now left without a coach; assistant coach, Ashley Tingelstad resigned late last week after hearing Peterson had been put on leave as a sign of support for Peterson. This isn't the first time Peterson has had issues with school administration, last year he left the team half-way through the year, but was asked to return and agreed.
Peterson has retained an attorney after meeting with the president of the Minnesota Coaches Association.
