Laker senior swimmer Tucker Strawsell turned in a pair of first-place finishes, two of the three events won by the Lakers in their loss to Park Rapids Tuesday night in Park Rapids. Strawsell finished first in the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events, and was a member of the 200 freestyle relay along with John Gulon, Micah Solberg and Elijah Kitzmann who also finished first. The Panthers beat the Lakers 116 -64.
The Laker Dance team won the Mid-State Conference Tournament in the Jazz competition last night at the Ralph Anderson Gymnasium. The Laker win comes after 1st place finishes over the weekend as well in Hawley. Next up, the Lakers will travel to Pelican Rapids on Saturday.
The Laker boys hockey team fell to the Crookston Pirates 6-3, at the Kent Freeman Arena. The Lakers have dropped 3 of their last 4 games. The Pirates improve their record 4-12-1 on the year. With the loss the Lakers fall to 10-3-1 overall on the season. Next up, the Lakers will host West Fargo on Thursday.
The Laker girls’ basketball team wrapped up their 8-game road trip last night losing to Crosby-Ironton 51-46. The Lakers went 2-6 on their road trip. The Lakers are now 3 games under .500 falling to 6-9 on the season. The Rangers improve their record to 8-4 on the season. Next up, Detroit Lakes will host Perham on Thursday.
The Laker girls’ hockey team has lost 5 straight after losing to Alexandria 12-0 last night. The Lakers drop their record to 4-13 on the season. They host Fargo North/South on Friday at 7:30 pm.
The Laker boys’ basketball team is above .500 for the first time this season with a win last night against Thief River Falls 86-69. The Lakers also sweep the season series with the Prowlers winning both match-ups by double figures. Detroit Lakes improves their record to 6-5 on the year. Next up, Detroit Lakes will host Park Rapids on Friday at 7:15 pm.
