UNDATED--A man and woman from Laporte each face multiple felony counts of mistreatment of animals in Hubbard County after dead and starving horses were found in April near Laporte. The charges stem from a report in April about horses being neglected at a residence in rural Hubbard County. The Hubbard County Sheriff's Department during a search of the property found four dead horses and five still alive but in very poor condition. It was discovered that the remaining starving horses had been eating trees and fence posts that were available to them. The horses were seized by the Sheriff's Office and taken to another location for safekeeping. The owners, 32-year-old Johnathan and 27-year-old Stephanie Johnson both of Laporte have been charged with multiple felony counts of mistreatment of animals.
