DETROIT LAKES, MN--With the cold weather settling in this week, the need for keeping the hands, heads and necks of the less fortunate warm is even greater. This might be a good time to remind you that you may donate warm mittens, hats and scarves to the less fortunate at the Damien Mitten Trees at several locations all over Detroit Lakes including the Public Library, the DLCCC, Central Market, all the banks, a coffee shop and other businesses. Damien Michele Norby says the mittens will be collected on December 21st and distributed to area schools, the Boys and Girls Club of Detroit Lakes, Lakes Crisis Center and Head Start, also to locations in Frazee and White Earth. Norby says they collect all sizes of mittens as they donate adult sizes to the hospital's emergency room, Ecumen Senior Living and Compassion House. Norby asks that if you are out and about over the course of the next couple of weeks, and have the means, please consider picking up an extra pair of mittens or a hat or a scarf and leaving your donation on one of the mitten trees located around Detroit Lakes.
