DETROIT LAKES, MN—October was a relatively wet month locally according to 2017 statistics for the 10th month compiled by Leighton Broadcasting's Marty Hembre. There were 11 days of
precipitation. Three days where snow began to fall. We saw a total snow accumulation
of 1.25”. With the most, three-quarters of an inch, fall on October 31st.
The total melt was .60". The total precipitation/melt for October was 2.60".
There was a total of 1.85” of rain with the most rainfall, 1.24”, recorded on
October 2nd. The total precipitation for 2017 through October is
23.65". Temperature-wise, the average daytime high temperature was
56-degrees. The warmest day was on October 20th when we recorded a
75-degree temperature. The coolest daytime high was 31 degrees recorded three
times on October 27th, 30th and 31st. The average overnight low was 34 degrees. The
coolest overnight low was 22 degrees recorded on the 29th and 31st.
The warmest overnight low was 52 degrees on October 2nd.
