A man has been arrested for the late-night gunfire in a Delano school bus parking lot that left one man inured and damaged two empty buses.
Joshua T. Moist, 34, of Howard Lake, was charged today (Thursday) in Wright County District Court with attempted murder, drive-by shooting and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Moist appeared in court Thursday and remains in jail.
Moist did not have a state permit to carry a firearm in public, said Sheriff’s Lt. Matt Treichler. He recently applied for a permit, but given this shooting, Treichler said, “This one is probably going to be denied.”
The charges said Moist followed the man from a nearby Holiday gas station to the bus parking lot, thinking the driver was responsible for a cousin’s drug overdose. A statement from Moist's grandmother states that Moist was trying to punish the person he believed had given his cousin the fatal overdose in June 2017.
The gunfire erupted about 2:20 a.m. in the Stahlke Bus Service lot along County Line Road, just north of Hwy. 12. Flying glass cut the man being pursued, and bullets also damaged two buses. There was no one in the garage or the buses at the time. Treichler said he didn’t know yet whether the victim was the person Moist was hunting.
