(KNSI) - A man is dead after the state patrol says he ran a stop sign and was hit by a pickup truck, then was ejected from his SUV.
James Leonard Demarais, from Foley, was driving south on County Road 66 Saturday just after 4:15 p.m.
The patrol says his SUV was struck on the passenger side by a pickup truck traveling on Highway 23 after Demarais didn't stop at the stop sign at the intersection east of Foley.
The 77-year-old was not wearing his seatbelt and was thrown from his vehicle suffering fatal injuries.
The driver of the pickup, 43-year-old James Robert Ludwig, of Circle Pines, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The roads were icy and snow covered at the time of the crash.
