ST. CLOUD (KNSI) - A man is lucky he wasn't hurt after being dumped in the back of a garbage truck in St. Cloud.

The fire department says the man was inside a dumpster at Lincoln Elementary School, 336 5th Avenue Southeast, St. Cloud, when he was lifted up and dumped 15-feet into the truck below at 4:31 a.m. Tuesday.

Battalion Chief Jerry Raymond says the driver noticed the man on a camera that monitors what's dumped into the hopper.

Firefighters used a ladder to remove the man from the hopper.

Firefighters weren't sure why the man was in the dumpster. The man was given over to police.

This is the second time this year a person has been rescued form the back of a garbage truck.

A firefighter says in January, city sanitation workers found a person trapped inside the back of a garbage truck at 815 St. Germain Street. Firefighters freed that person too.
