WADENA COUNTY, MN--Citizens in the Menahga area received a Code Red alert Wednesday afternoon as Wadena County authorities initiate a manhunt for an armed suspect. According to the Wadena County Sheriff's Office, a resident just east of Menahga called 9-1-1 just after 3:00pm. The call was disconnected before the dispatcher could obtain any information. Law enforcement arrived at the residence to find a victim of a domestic dispute who said her significant other had left the residence on foot with a firearm. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to assist and a perimeter was quickly set around the scene. The Wadena County Sheriff's Department says a CodeRED message was sent to residents in the immediate area of the incident advising them of the situation. A deputy spotted the male party in question walking near the north shores of Stocking Lake. A concerned citizen also reported the same to law enforcement. Members of the Wadena/Hubbard Swat team were able to move into position and make contact with the male, taking him into custody without incident a short time later. According to a press release from Wadena County Sheriff Michael Carr, the male was transported to the Wadena County Jail and will be held on charges of Domestic Assault and Interfering with a 911 Call. Charges are pending. The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by: The Wadena/Hubbard Swat Team, Menahga Police Department, Verndale Police Department, MN State Patrol, MN DNR Enforcement, and Tri-County Ambulance.
