DETROIT LAKES, MN (KDLM) -- Around 200 people attended the video premiere and panel discussion centered around mental illness at M-State in Detroit Lakes Tuesday night.
The eight-part video series features local people speaking about their experience of a common mental illness followed by information on the respective illness by an area mental health professional. Tuesday night's presentation went into overtime with an overwhelming response of questions from the audience regarding mental illness as the panelists fielded a range of questions that centered mostly around where and how to seek help if you or someone you know is experiencing depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorder.
The main take away from last night's event was that there are many resources available in the Detroit Lakes and surrounding area for people with a mental illness and many people are ready to help.
The videos can be found on the Becker County Energize website and will be broadcast on TV3 over the next eight weeks.
Becker County Energize spokeswoman Karen Pifher says there will also be a follow up to Tuesday's Inside Out meeting at the upcoming Health and Wellness summit: Building a Healthy Resilient Community April 2nd from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Historic Holmes Theatre.
