(KBRF) - The Minnesota Department of Transportation is undertaking aerial mapping of several locations in West Central Minnesota this spring. The mapping will create a record of existing infrastructure and landscape along and adjacent to MnDOT right of ways for transportation planning and design work.
Director of Public Engagement TJ Melcher says they are looking for an exact representation of what the ground looks like.
MnDOT crews will paint large white “X” targets on paved surfaces and place plastic or fabric “X” targets on unpaved surfaces.
The mapping will take place on Hwy 54 from Elbow Lake to Hwy 27, Hwy 55 from Barrett to the east Grant County line, Hwy 75 from Dumont to 6 miles north of Wheaton, Hwy 114 from Starbuck to Lowry, and finally Hwy 119 from Hwy 40 to Highway 12.
Melcher said the most important thing that landowners can do is to not remove or disturb the targets until the photography is completed.
