DETROIT LAKES, MN--A teen bicyclist sustained minor injuries in Detroit Lakes Wednesday afternoon after his bike was hit by a car. Detroit Lakes Police were dispatched just before 2:30 pm to the scene. Police say a 17-year-old male bicyclist was westbound in the crosswalk on Roosevelt Avenue just north of Park Street when a car traveling northbound on Roosevelt, driven by a 22 year old male, did not see the bicyclist and struck the rear tire of bike, throwing the rider to the ground. Police say the bicyclist had a cut to the left eye area. Police say the rider wanted to keep riding home but the driver and passenger asked him to stay so incident could be reported. Officers summoned EMS and had the rider checked out, and he was cleared. The DLPD reports there was no damage to either the bike or the car and there are no charges indicated at this time.
