Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Hubbard County

UNDATED—A motorcyclist was seriously injured on Highway 71 Monday afternoon in Hubbard County. The State Patrol says just before 3:00pm a motorcycle was northbound on Highway 71 near Hubbard County Road 118, Guthrie Township, as a funeral procession was heading south. A semi moved to the shoulder for the procession, the Harley swerved around the semi to the right and entered the ditch, jumped a driveway approach, struck a mailbox and landed on its side. The driver of the motorcycle, 72-year-old Norman Salverson of Erskine was transported to Sanford in Bemidji with life-threatening injuries. A 59-year-old female passenger on the motorcycle had non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Sanford in Bemidji. The Patrol says neither of the motorcycle passengers were wearing helmets. No one else was injured.
