MAHNOMEN COUNTY, MINN. (KFGO) - A Minneapolis murder suspect has been arrested in Mahnomen County.
Juan Vasquez, Jr., 18, was taken into custody Wednesday morning at a home in Naytahwaush on a U.S. Marshall's Felony Warrant for homicide. He was charged last month for second degree murder and second degree assault.
According to the criminal complaint, police responded to a "ShotSpotter" alert in the Little Earth United Tribes housing complex in South Minneapolis March 26th. Officers found an unresponsive male lying on the steps of a residence. They attempted to revive the 19-year old but he died at the scene.
A second victim, a teenage boy, was hospitalized with "shrapnel-type" wounds to his legs, face, and head.
A witness to the shooting identified Vasquez in surveillance video.
Another suspect was with Vasquez and both fled the scene. A warrant has been issued for the second suspect.
Vasquez is being held in the Clearwater County Jail in Bagley, awaiting return to Hennepin County.
