DETROIT LAKES - The Poles N Holes fishing derby kicked off, Saturday, Feb. 10 with brisk Minnesota temps and nearly 2,000 holes drilled in Little Detroit Lake thanks to the Detroit Lakes High Football team.

The derby, now in its 8th year expects hundreds of area anglers trying their luck to reel in a piece of over $30,000 in prizes including an ice castle fish house valued at over $10,000.

Held from noon to 3pm participants are allowed to fish out of any of the nearly 2,000 pre-drilled holes without the use of a shelter. The heaviest fish wins.
