DETROIT LAKES, MN--Detroit Lakes makes the hiring of a new police officer official. Detroit Lakes Mayor Matt Brenk swore in Dylan Jensen at the September meeting. Detroit Lakes Police Chief Steve Todd says Dylan comes to Detroit Lakes from the Dodge County (Nebraska) Sheriff's Office which is about 45 minutes northwest of Omaha. He served in that area of Nebraska for about 5 years as a deputy sheriff and police officer. Chief Todd says Dylan is recently married to Mallory and they are getting fully settled in Detroit Lakes. Dylan and Mallory are avid outdoors people and enjoy hunting and fishing. The Chief says Dylan's parents brought him as a child to our area of the country on family vacations and he'd always wanted to make it his home. Todd says Officer Jensen saw the DLPD's hiring advertisements online over the winter and initiated the application process. According to the Chief, Jensen will be in the PD's field training program for approximately three months. Jensen fills an opening from the retirement of Officer Eric Bergren in July.
