DETROIT LAKES, MN--Gearing up for the Beardsley marathon tonight with a bike ride. Race Director Mark Knutson says the 13.1 and 26.2 bike rides were added this year. He says the bike rides follow the courses the runners will use on Saturday. He says tonight's event isn't necessarily a race. It's whatever pace you want to bike and the mile-maker signs used in the race will be in place tonight for the bikers. The Tour De Lake begins at 6:30PM and there will be a Wellness Expo also tonight from 4:00pm to 8:00pm all events are staged at the Pavilion. The Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, 10K Run/Walk, 5K Run/Walk and Kid's Run all happen Saturday. Friday, is packet pick-up and registration for runners from Noon to 9:00pm at the Pavilion. There is also a pasta feed on Friday night at the Pavilion beginning at 6:00pm featuring the races' namesake Dick Beardsley. Race officials and Detroit Lakes Police Department say motorists may want to find alternate routes Saturday morning as partial street closures will be in place along West Lake Drive. And motorists are asked to use extra caution and have patience as bikers tonight and runners on Saturday hit the course on the road around the lake and neighborhoods in town.
