Officer killed in off-duty bicycle identified

The off-duty police officer killed while riding his bicycle early Sunday morning in Rogers has been identified.
Kevin Hegyi, a detective with Hopkins Police Department for the past seven years, was traveling westbound on Industrial Boulevard in Rogers just after midnight Sunday when he was in a collision with a car driving the same direction.
The 45-year-old was unconscious when responders arrived and suffered a head injury that would ultimately prove fatal.
"We regret to inform our community of this tragic loss," Hopkins PD said on Facebook."Kevin was a great asset to our department and community. Please keep his family, friends and our department in your thoughts."
Rogers Police Department continues to investigate the crash, with the driver of the car cooperating with the investigation.
