MOORHEAD, MN--A man was arrested following a Sunday morning standoff at a Moorhead apartment complex. Police responded to a domestic disturbance around 9:30 at 1615 20th St. South. The man assaulted a woman in one of the apartments. Officers say the woman was able to escape through a garden level apartment window before they arrived.
The man was still inside but not cooperating with police and it was believed he was armed. A police negotiator was able to convince the man to surrender peacefully more than two hours later. This is the second standoff for Moorhead police this week.
52-year old Terry Lee York was taken into custody for felony domestic assault and several other charges. For safety reasons, the apartment building was evacuated at the start of the standoff.
The Red River Valley SWAT team and Minnesota State Patrol assisted police.
