DETROIT LAKES, MN—The snow and cold will pass and you can be sure the spring migration of birds will begin to arrive, too. In fact, organizers of Detroit Lakes annual Festival of Birds count on that each year for the last 20 years. The 21st Annual Festival of Birds is right around the corner May 16th-19th and early registrations are now being accepted. Organizer Kelly Blackledge from Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge says there are some fantastic field trips and presentations planned for 2018’s festival.
Blackledge says presenters this year include Carrol Henderson who has worked over four decades with the Department of Natural Resources.
And the Keynote speaker, Noah Stryker, who will talk about his big bird year and the book “Birding without Boarders” which was a result of that.
You can register on line at www.visitdetroitlakes.com. There are also booklets at the Detroit Lakes Chamber and many other locations in Detroit Lakes detailing the field trips and presentations and more fun events at the 2018 Festival of Birds
