BEMIDJI (KDLM) - The National Weather Service has confirmed that it is likely a tornado touched down in Bemidji around 7:45am this morning.

Beltrami County Emergency Management has asked that citizens avoid the area to the west of Bemidji State University to Irvine Ave. It appears that many trees and power lines have been downed.

It is unclear at this time what the extent of the damages are to properties or if there have been any injuries.

Many residents nearby flocked to social media shortly after the storm swept through Bemidji sharing photos and videos of the destruction.
