DETROIT LAKES, MN—Early morning fire at the Refuge in Detroit Lakes Saturday.

Detroit Lakes Fire Department was called to the scene on 8th Street just after 5:30am after a passerby called 911 to report smoke coming from the building.

Detroit Lakes Fire Chief Scott Flynn says crews arrived and found a small fire in the front of the building and heavy smoke throughout the rest of the building. Flynn says they were able to quickly extinguish the flames. He said the State Fire Marshall was on the scene investigating the cause. Flynn says the fire damage was minimal but the entire building sustained heavy smoke damage. The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported. Audubon and Frazee Fire Departments provided mutual aid. The Detroit Lakes Police Department also assisted at the scene.
