(KNSI) - Crews on Tuesday were in their second day searching for a man who tried to swim across the Mississippi River in St. Cloud.
People called police around 4:30 p.m. on Monday when they saw a man walk into the river in the 700 block of 5th Avenue North and start swimming to the east side.
They say they lost sight of the man in the middle of the river.
Crews responded and started searching the river.
The Stearns County Dive Team responded but the man was not located.
The search was suspended due to darkness.
Crews on Tuesday morning resumed their search, with their staging area at Wilson Park.
Stearns County asked Hennepin and Crow Wing Counties to borrow their side scan sonar to assist in the search.
Side scan sonar is what finally led to Jesse Dady's body being found on March 31, 2017.
The St. Cloud State student fell into the river from the railroad bridge behind Empire Apartments.
