(KNSI) - A semi driver was injured when his rig went off a bridge and into an icy lake north of Sauk Centre.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the crash happened around 9:45 Monday morning on Highway 71.

The state patrol says the semi, which was carrying animal parts, crashed through the guardrail and into Sauk Lake.

The driver, Shawn Michael Curry, 48, of Olivia, was able to smash a window and get out of the cab as the semi was sinking.

He was taken by ambulance to Sauk Centre Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
