DETROIT LAKES, MN--Interviews of six finalists for the next Activities Director for Detroit Lakes School District begin today and run through tomorrow (Wednesday). According to Detroit Lakes School Superintendent Doug Froke, there were 52 applicants for the position that opened up following the non renewal of the current AD, Mitch McLeod's contract in March. McLeod has been in the position for 10 years. Froke says three teams of interviewers consisting of coaches, administrators, school board members and a community member will be involved in selecting the new AD. 
The Superintendent says there's a mix of candidates, some with AD experience and others with Lakers sports experience. They are Kevin Brent, the current AD at Dawson-Boyd High School; Jonathon Ruoff, the current AD at MELROSE H.S.; Ben Kvidt the current AD at MILACA H.S.; Mike Biermaier the AD Thief River Falls; Terry Eiter, a DLHS Social Studies Teacher, Sports Official, baseball coach; Rob Nielsen a DLHS Instructional/Technology coach and assistant high school football coach.  Superintendent Froke says the hope is to have a new AD hired,contract signed and ready to go by July 1st. There are still a number of varsity head-coach positions to fill.
