SOY SEALANT BEING TESTED TO PREVENT ROAD CRACKING

KBRF - An innovative research project is taking place in Otter Tail County and at around three hundred locations around the state to prevent cracking roads during the winter. The Agricultural Utilization Research Institute, working in conjunction with the Minnesota Soy Council has come up with the “Soy Road Sealant Project”, which applies a soy sealant directly on the roadway. The big challenge for the state has been to spend many millions on the roadways around the state and then have them start cracking after just five to 10 years. Stanislawski says so far the research is promising but they continue to monitor their test strips for more data.
